QUESTION:
Why don’t manufacturers of dog food tell us about the availability of nutrients?
ANSWER:
As we now know, the meat contained in canned pet food is cooked, devoid of 'real' nutrients and usually contains many potentially harmful preservatives, colorings and additives.
The most alarming aspect of pet food manufacture is that the digestibility and availability of nutrients is not listed at all on pet food labels!
This means that there is no way of a Labrador owner knowing whether their wonderful pet is able to either process or benefit from the canned food we are feeding them.
Therefore, even though a pet food may qualify to be called “complete” and “balanced” under AAFCO regulations, these measures are unreliable for determining whether a food will actually provide your Labrador with sufficient nutrients.
